One June 4th, 2017, in honor of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the students of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® Chicago/Milwaukee center held an interfaith event focused on fasting. The event commenced with a brief introduction to Islamic Sufism and the history of the M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® school, then guests broke out into small groups to discuss the topic of fasting and their faith traditions. There were over 40 participants from a variety of faith groups so the discussions at each table were both informative and personal. After discussion of the topics, participants were invited to experience Zikr. It was an amazing experience to see students of various religions orientation chant in harmony and move to the Zikr. The guests of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® remarked feeling “love” and wanting to “go into their hearts”. The night came to a close with the Ramadan prayers and breaking the fast together.
