  • Los Angeles, California
  • May 12, 2021
  • M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Los Angeles Center

On May 12, 2021, the world celebrated International Nurses Day and the Holy Day of Eid Fetr, and M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Los Angeles celebrated exactly 1 year since the start of the COVID-19 Relief Initiative by donating over 18,000 of items of personal protective equipment, school supplies, non-perishable food, hygiene kits and care packages to multiple agencies. The special handmade PPE’s were donated to five major hospitals, food and essential hygiene packages were donated to three charities such as LA Family Housing, Harvest Home and About My Father’s Business. Additional food and essential items were donated to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and Santa Monica Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Teams to deliver directly to people on the streets. In addition, school supplies and backpacks were donated to LASD Youth Services to students in low-income households. The dozens of volunteers put a lot of love into creating these packages, which have been making a big impact in the community.
M.T.O. hosted the event at the Los Angeles Sufi Center, and for the special gathering and celebration of Eid Fetr, the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, volunteers provided a luncheon for the frontline workers and guests. Special guests attended, including Sheriff Chief representing LASD Chief Alex Villanueva, who presented MTO with an appreciation scroll for its year of providing essential services to the community, ICU Chief Nurse of West Hills Hospital and LAFD Fire Captain 73. LA City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield sent us an appreciation video message. There were speeches, video presentation and acknowledgment of the Zendeh Delan ensemble and a live Tamarkoz® meditation practice by Dr. Cheryl Crumpler. KABC CH.7 News covered this special day’s event.
