On March 19th, 2017, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® in Los Angeles hosted an interfaith event in observance of the U.N. International Day of Happiness and the Iranian New Year (Norouz), which is also a U.N. recognized day. The event began with guests enjoying gourmet Persian appetizers and meeting new friends, followed by a welcome introduction to M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi, and then brief talks by Councilmember Blumenfield, Senator's State Director Ms. Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Mayor Garcetti's West Valley Representative and Captain Rafael Ramirez from the West Valley Police Department. Guests were led to the main area where an introduction of Islamic Sufism was provided for them, followed by an explanation of the beautiful tradition of "Sofre Haftseen," which was displayed in celebration of the Iranian New Year. Different faith groups were invited to join us in sharing what happiness and joy means in faith and how it can be obtained. Councilmember Blumenfield presented M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi with a certificate of recognition for continuing to make Los Angeles a better place to live, work and play, and for dedication and commitment to preserving New Year traditions. Mayor Garcetti's representative also presented M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi with a certificate of appreciation for his gratitude to the community leadership of M.T.O. Shamaghsoudi for ongoing compassion and kindness on his Welcome Home Project and Big Move In Day, and for M.T.O.'s commitment to interfaith dialogue, understanding, and connectedness as the core of what makes Los Angeles so special. Our interfaith guests, elected officials and city leaders present all thanked M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi for hosting an event on happiness and helping to bring awareness to the importance of positive emotions and stress management in daily life. Attendees said they felt calm, serene and very happy to be there. The program concluded with a tour of M.T.O.'s building and gardens.
