  • M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Los Angeles Center

In honor of Hunger and Homeless Awareness week, and the giving spirit, the M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi®, School of Islamic Sufism® participated in delivering thousands of much needed personal protective equipment, hundreds of bags of non-perishable food, and hygiene kits to area hospitals, and to non-profit organizations committing to helping the homeless. The event was a successful display and distribution of thousands of prepared food packages.

The focus has been on giving and caring the week before Thanksgiving, and to show appreciation to the frontline heroes who have sacrificed so much to protect us during the pandemic. A luncheon was provided with food and refreshments, followed by speeches by key members of the community.

We were honored with the attendance of Los Angeles City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, and members of the Salvation Army, Harvest Home, The People Concern, Los Robles Hospital, City of Hope Hospital, Olive View Hospital, LA Fire Department, and Santa Monica Police Department. The media attended the event, with several major stations including Reuters News agency, KCBS Channel 2 KCAL Channel 9, LA city Channel 35 in English and Spanish.

Padideh Nazarian spoke at the podium introduced Councilmember Blumenfield. After some kind words, and a Certificate of Appreciation awarded by the City of Los Angeles was given to the members at MTO. Other speeches followed including representatives from City of Robles Hospital. Goli Zarabi and Padideh Nazarian introduced Tamarkoz and quoted in six different languages, including Farsi, Spanish, French, Italian and Hebrew. There was a photo opportunity before we all worked together to load the food into the vehicles and helped in making the deliveries throughout the city.

A total of 600 bags of food and 400 hygiene kits were donated to the homeless organizations, along with 1500 face masks, 250 face shields and 300 medical gowns were made and donated to the hospitals and medical offices. These efforts are part of the on-going M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Global Covid-19 relief efforts.
