On October 29, 2020, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® Sydney Centre celebrated the anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), by donating one hundred care packages and essentials to those most in need during these trying times. Whilst unlike other years students were unable to celebrate this holy occasion in congregation, they instead came together on a global day of action and in the true spirit of khidmat (being of service) endeavoured to give back to our local communities as part of the continued M.T.O. COVID-19 response. These care packages containing non-perishable foods and colouring books, were donated during a ceremony with a number of City of Ryde councillors and officials in attendance. A City of Ryde certificate of appreciation was awarded to M.T.O. for our continued charity efforts. M.T.O. Sydney is also invited to meet with the Mayor of Ryde over breakfast to provide further information about MTO and our charitable activities. Reaching out to and providing assistance to our local communities was for us the best way of celebrating this joyous occasion and putting into practice the Holy Prophet’s teachings of love, peace, and unity. It was also a timely reminder of Prophet Mohammad’s profound message of “You be You”, which resonates with us now more so than ever before during these challenging times.
