For International Nurses Day, on May 12, 2020, M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® in Sacramento visited three local hospitals to show their appreciation for the invaluable work that nurses do. They donated 150 care packages, each filled with an assortment of snacks, drinks, and fruit, as well as 3 boxes of homemade, individually packaged cookies and brownies for the nurses at Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Medical Center, Sutter Sacramento Medical Center, and Mercy San Juan Medical Center. 390 units of handmade PPE were also donated to these hospitals as part of M.T.O.’s global efforts in the continuing fight against Covid-19. The volunteers also delivered a substantial amount of a variety of non-perishable food items to Mercy Housing, for distribution among their 375 units of low income housing. Councilmember Eric Guerra, representing Sacramento’s 6th district, joined the M.T.O. volunteers virtually to acknowledge their efforts in supporting nurses through this stressful time.
