The M.T.O. Sufi Association® was invited by the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church to participate in an interfaith peace vigil called “Resisting Despair” on the anniversary of September 11, 2001 and in honor of approaching the international day of peace on September 21st. We presented zikr with live music and prayed for peace and contentment in our hearts, in our life, and in our society. We presented the teachings of Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Angha on Hope and Peace: “Hope is planted seed in a fertile ground. In the land of our hearts the plant of despair never grows”. It was an evening of prayer, silence, and song, and we enjoyed teachings and musical performances from the Unitarian, Sikh, Jewish, Sunni Muslim, and Quaker communities. At the end, we walked the labyrinth and reflected on what we can do to bring peace to our life.
