Celebrating our National Heroes with Care Packages to Homeless Veterans in Sacramento

  • Sacramento, California
  • May 25, 2020
  • M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Sacramento Center

On May 25, 2020, to commemorate Memorial Day and the end of Ramadan, students from the M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi®, School of Islamic Sufism® in Sacramento prepared 270 care packages and delivered them to homeless veterans at Volunteers of America and America’s Homeless Veterans. Congressman Ami Bera and his District Director Matthew Ceccato (a veteran), came in acknowledgement of our efforts. Dr. Bera made a brief statement to show his support for M.T.O.’s global COVID-19 response. A representative from America’s Homeless Veterans, James Brooks, attended as well and expressed his appreciation for the donations. Deputy sheriffs joined M.T.O.’s effort by loading the cars and dropping off the care packages with the volunteers. Reporters from KCRA (NBC-3) and Fox-40 were present to cover the event. Reporters from CBS-13 also attended to film a segment for Good Day Sacramento.
