On February 5, 2020, members of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® volunteered at a local food pantry in Columbus, Ohio. This food pantry serves on average fifty families a day. We learned there is much to do to both acquire and distribute the food to those in need. Volunteers helped stock pantry shelves, walk people through the pantry to do their shopping, and take groceries to people’s cars. The director of the Food Pantry shared statistical information about the pantry and his vision of the good that is done by it. One point of interest, was that people who are hungry can easily be led to do things, for food, that they otherwise might not do. Another point must be that when a person is hungry, or hasn’t the resource to buy even food for themselves, or in many cases, many mouths, it is difficult to expect them to be able to do much more than to try to resolve their own, and, even more so, their families hunger. The director would dispel the idea that feeding people helps keep them in poverty. To protect the privacy of those who use this service, the only pictures included are of M.T.O. members being given an introduction to the pantry and volunteer jobs.
