On September 21, 2019, in commemoration with the UN International Day of Peace, M.T.O. Shamaghsoudi® hosted an Interfaith Peace Panel Discussion, and collaborated in the organization of the Peace Day events which have been annually hosted by the Grauer High school and the Jubilee U.S.A. for the past 10 years. The panelists included Pastor Bill Harman, representing Christianity, Dr. Karma Lekshi Tsomo, representing Buddhism, Isa Grimes representing Hinduism and Dr. Farnaz Khoromi, representing Islam. The Peace Panel Discussion was received enthusiastically, which led to a period of discussion and Q&A afterwards. The second part of the program was announced by Pastor Bill Harman, who in his introduction thanked M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi while suggesting to the audience that he wishes to be “Lutheran Sufi”, more than once! The keynote speaker of the evening was Mr. Erick LeCompte, the executive director of Jubilee U.S.A, visiting from Washington, D.C., who often makes appearances and speaks at the White House. In his presentation, he made references from the teachings of Islamic Sufism presented during the panel discussion. During his conversation with one of the M.T.O. members, Mr. LeCompte later expressed interest to read the Book “Sufism, a Bridge Between Religions” written by Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Angha, as well as visiting the M.T.O. center in Washington, D.C., and an interest in continued and expanded future collaborations with M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi on similar projects. The remaining parts of the program included live music and singing, readings of prayers on peace, and a short candle light meditation.
