M.T.O. Sufi Association® Attends Interfaith Discussion Panel

  • San Diego, California
  • June 5, 2019
  • Poway Community Library

Following the tragic shooting that took place in the Chabad synagogue in Poway, California on April 27, 2019, a panel of interfaith leaders came together on June 5, 2019, at the Poway Community Library, in order to discuss solutions for preventing the occurrences of such tragic events in the future, as well as creating preparedness for coming together in times of crisis. The discussion panel was comprised of representatives from the Judoist, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist and Christian centers. The primary message was the fact that all Mankind is connected and one, as are the different body parts of one body, and if one body part were to be hurt, all body parts would hurt and feel the pain. During these discussions, it was confirmed that coming together in dialogue and making friendships and relationships, as do brothers and sisters of a family, is one of the key factors in being prepared to face any type of crisis in the future as a community. Many speakers and guests also expressed interest to create solutions for outreach to elementary schools in order to teach the interfaith ideas of oneness and unity in diversity to the young minds of the future generations, in order to prevent the development of any tendencies of racism or prejudice in children. M.T.O. Sufi Association® found the opportunity to individually approach every faith leader present to introduce M.T.O as well as initiate conversation for the purpose of creating further future opportunities of collaboration and connection. Many faith leaders present expressed great interest for further future meetings and visiting the M.T.O. center in San Diego.
