  • M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Vancouver Center

On May 26, 2019, the students of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Vancouver Centre hosted “Children’s Day”. This celebration was in honor of the birth of Hazrat Mir Ghotbeddin Mohammad Angha, in addition to celebrating the annual children’s day tradition that Hazrat Shah Maghsoud and Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Angha held in Sufi Abad, Iran. Approximately 50 children, young adults, and parents were present with ages ranging from ages 2 and up. The day kicked off with “ice-breaker activities” and a delicious pancake breakfast sitting at the traditional spread (sofreh). After breakfast, the kids paired off with older youth “buddies” to journal and listen in on the history of “Children’s Day” in Iran (storytime). After the journaling activity, the group departed from the M.T.O centre and journeyed on a field trip to the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, near Downtown Vancouver. The kids had the opportunity to watch a live demonstration at the Ground Station Show, explore the Cosmic Courtyard, and experience the planets, nebulas, black holes, galaxies, and countless other astronomical wonders at the Planetarium Star Theatre. The children were able to fully immerse in an entertaining journey through the universe. This was an eye-opening experience for many of the children as the idea of the “vast and infinite” universe was emphasized throughout. Overall, the kids enjoyed their time learning about outer space, bonding with fellow M.T.O peers, and having fun!
