On March 2, 2019, students of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® participated in an interfaith gathering titled, “Opening our Hearts - Expanding Circles of Peace” which was held at The Interfaith Peace Project Center in Antioch, California. The event celebrated the gathering of our interfaith communities, through fostering dialogue and exchanging perspectives on peace. Enjoying in a potluck together, attendees participated in a dialogical conversation, mutually learning from one another and about each other’s faiths. Along with Sufism, the other faiths that were represented at this gathering were Christianity and Buddhism. Through an organized exercise reflecting on peace and peacemaking, attendees engaged in honest discussions further deepening their interfaith understanding and awareness. With the purpose of planting the seeds for a garden of peace, all attendees recited a closing song and prayer together.
