Members of Blue Heron Sangha, a Buddhist organization with teachings based on Thich Nhat Hanh, were invited for an evening of Spiritual Sharing at M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® in Columbus, Ohio. There were 24 people in attendance. Students of M.T.O. presented two talks on Sufism, and members of the Blue Heron Sangha shared information about their programs and practice. These talks were followed by a session of questions and answers, and discussion of what we had heard. Both groups provided stimulating questions during this session. A short talk on, and demonstration of Zikr, was followed by the presentation of two zikrs, one led without the accompaniment of music and the second with instrumentation. Blue Heron Sangha then led one of their chants from their practice. We ended the evening with dinner and more discussion of our practices and concepts. Members of both groups acknowledged the event as having been valuable and a success.
