On April 22, 2017, the M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Dallas center hosted an event titled “Sufism, A Bridge Between Religions". In this event, distinguished members of the City Council and City's Multicultural Committee, professors and community's religious leaders were present. The program began with an introduction to Religion, Islam and Sufism, history of the school, and the significance of the Teacher. Attendees were then invited to visit several exhibits displaying the works of great Sufi Masters of the school and various arts. The artwork exhibit included inlaid woodwork (khatam kari), mirror work (ayeneh kari), Persian calligraphy, and tazhib/miniature. Following the exhibit tour, the guests returned to the main hall. The concept of Sufism being a bridge between religions and Sufi practices were presented, followed by a brief guided meditation and the Sufi practice of zikr. At the end of the program, questions were addressed and the guests enjoyed gourmet Persian delicacies. The guests were genuinely interested in the teachings of Sufism and had ample time to explore and ask questions. Based on guest feedback, the open and warm reception inspired a transformation in their view of Islam. They also appreciated the educational and informative nature of the program.
