Days of Compassion – Press Conference

  • Los Angeles, California
  • July 20, 2017
  • Los Angeles City Hall

On July 20, 2017, members of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® attended a Press Conference by Los Angeles City Mayor, Eric Garcetti. The event was held at City Hall to discuss the mayor’s program called “Days of Compassion.” The Mayor’s office reached out to us directly inviting M.T.O. members to attend this event. Today’s event was focused on the faith community. Approximately 200 people attended, including city officials and members from faith groups including Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh. The intention of the “Days of Compassion” is to involve the faith-based community with the efforts of the city to help in providing services to the local homeless. Words of faith and community by the mayor and all the speakers were very touching and hopeful for a brighter future in our society. After the event, guests were provided informational resources to combine city determinations to help the homeless. There was some networking and meeting of people of other faiths.
