On November 21st, 2016 the M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® Chicago/Milwaukee center was invited by the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition to participate in a world touring photography exhibition entitled “Capture the Spirit of Ramadan”. The event was held at Milwaukee City Hall and had around 100 attendees. The goal of the event was a unique visual celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan that aims to promote dialogue and understanding about Islam through the art of photography. The night included an interfaith portion where invited speakers from different faith groups recited prayers of gratitude. The various faiths included Buddhism, Islamic Sufism, Judaism, Christianity, Hindu Sikh, Quaker and Islam. There was also a musical performance by the African American Children’s Theatre. One of the M.T.O. students recited a prayer from the book “Message From the Soul”. The attendees found the exhibit both engaging and informative. The prayers of gratitude brought about a humbling experience among the attendees. The highlight of the night was witnessing a 14-year-old boy recite the Azan in the City Hall of Milwaukee.
