On September 17, 2016, Mayor Garcetti revisited M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® in Los Angeles to mark the start of the Big Move-In Day of his Welcome Home Project. In participation of the project, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® took lead in mobilizing community action towards helping the recently housed homeless households. Mayor Garcetti joined volunteers at M.T.O. to pick up Welcome Home Baskets that include bedding, kitchen-ware, cleaning supplies and more, which were delivered to the previously unsheltered families and individuals. Along with three fire stations, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® in Los Angeles is an official, designated location for the collection and organization of the Welcome Home Baskets, and is the first faith-based location for a Big Move-In Day event. The delivery of the baskets was a heart-felt and meaningful experience as the receiving families and individuals deeply appreciated the care. Mayor Garcetti thoughtfully expressed his enthusiasm for the support of the faith community and his appreciation for the collaborative effort of M.T.O. We were delighted to warmly welcome Mayor Garcetti back to M.T.O. and we look forward to continuing our volunteer participation and collaboration in his strategic efforts to solve the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.
