On October 1, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® Los Angeles celebrated “National Love People Day” and Sufi Master Professor Nader Angha’s birthday by hosting a major event at the Los Angeles Sufi Center. This joyous event was marked by the most spectacular occasion: the great City of Los Angeles has announced that September 30th is M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi Day! Councilmembers Nithya Raman and Bob Blumenfield had drafted this motion, which passed on the floor of the Los Angeles City Hall. At today’s event, M.T.O. also was gifted the stunning Resolution’s certificate. California Senate Majority Leader Emeritus Robert Hertzberg spoke at the podium and presented M.T.O. with Resolution by the California State Senate, which lovingly mentions all the amazing ongoing contributions throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. And Assemblymember Laura Friedman and representatives of 2 other Assemblymembers’ offices each presented a Certificate of Recognition. In total, local and state leaders presented 5 certificates to M.T.O. that we all share the commonality of service in the community.
Today’s event had a presentation of traditional Iranian music and Sufi Zekr, exhibition of Sufi art, architecture and culture, and displays of the various aspects of MTO’s involvement in the community. Special gifts of traditional Persian mirror mosaics were presented to our distinguished guests and speeches highlighted the incredible collaboration between MTO and the greater community. This event was open to family and friends with over 200 guests. We were even honored by the attendance of LAPD Chief Michel Moore, Deputy Chief Hamilton and other ranking officers of the LAPD West Valley Division.
We also celebrated National Love People Day by donating over 1000 backpacks and school supplies to students of four different elementary schools, which include: Garden Grove Elementary, Cantara Street Elementary, Kirk O’ the Valley Presbyterian Church and Michelle Obama Elementary.
