On October 23rd, 2015, The M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® in Chicago/Milwaukee was invited to speak at an interfaith event held at Plymouth Church in Milwaukee, WI. This event was sponsored by the Jewish Congregation Shir Hadash and was held during the congregation's weekly service. The event, which was being live-streamed to congregation members in Mexico, started with Jewish prayers, after which an M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi® student presented on Islamic Sufism. The Rabbi then discussed the story of Abraham as it is written in the Torah, followed by another M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi® student presenting the continuation of the story from Qur'an. A third M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi® student presented on zikr, and 2 zikrs were conducted where many members of the Jewish congregation participated. The session ended with a Jewish prayer. There were approximately 60 people in attendance who, following the event, stayed behind to ask questions and share refreshments. The refreshments were prepared by both congregation members and students of M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi®. This event brought people together for smaller discussions regarding Sufism and the similarities of different faiths and disciplines. This was a unique loving atmosphere uniting everyone regardless of their faith.
