On December 22, 2021, M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi® School of Islamic Sufism® Vancouver Centre gave back to their community by donating 46 care packages to a local non-profit organization. In partnership and collaboration with the Progressive Housing Society, a Burnaby based non-profit charity that provides support services to adults living with mental health issues or facing homelessness, M.T.O. Volunteers organized this delivery for community members in need. Care packages included necessary items for surviving the cold weather, including toques, emergency sleeping bags, rain ponchos, and other essentials. M.T.O. Volunteers were joined by Mayor Mike Hurley, the mayor of Burnaby, and Hon. Katrina Chen, the Burnaby-Lougheed MLA, on the day of their delivery which coincided with the Progressive Housing Society’s Christmas party. Reflecting on one of their final charity events of the year, M.T.O. Volunteers were grateful to be able to give back and spread joy this holiday season.
