On May 3rd, 2015, The M.T.O. School of Islamic Sufism® in Chicago/Milwaukee was invited to speak at an interfaith experience held at the Islamic Society Mosque in Brookfield, Wisconsin. This event was sponsored by the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee and the Brookfield Elm Grove Interfaith Network and consisted of members of 12 faiths (Baha’i, Buddhism, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hinduism, Islam, Islamic Sufism, Judaism, Protestant Christianity, Roman Catholic Christianity, Sikhism, Unitarian Universalism, Zoroastrianism) each presenting on the topic “Why do we pray? An exploration of the purpose and benefits of prayer.” The event drew in over 120 people with varying faiths from the community, who toured the mosque, listened to brief presentations, enjoyed refreshments, then split up into smaller groups to process the event and discuss their own experiences. Sixteen members from M.T.O.® attended and in addition to participating in the event, they assisted with registration and photography. It was an interesting event and members were excited to be a part of it and learn from each other and other faiths.
