Upon invitation from the Asian Studies Center, at the Global Institute of the Georgia State University, students of M.T.O Shahmaghsoudi®, School of Islamic Sufism®, in Atlanta, Georgia held their fifth Sufi Chant (zikr) event. The purpose was to introduce Islam, Sufism, and zikr to the students of GSU and other attendees. The program was open to the public, and consisted of presentations, zikr, Q&A, and refreshments. The program began with opening remarks from the Director of the Asian Studies Center, Dr. Ghulam Nadri, with special thanks to the students of Atlanta M.T.O. for their participation. The Director of the GSU’s Global Institute was among the participants and took part in the chant. The program ended with a Q&A session and special thanks from the Director of the Asian Studies. Refreshments were served at the end of the session, during which time the audience interacted with the M.T.O. students to learn more about the school, its activities, Islam, and Sufism. In celebration of Norouz, participants received copies of the books “Dawn” and “Sufism and Faith” (in the honor of His Holiness, Hazrat Pir’s lecture at GSU on February 18, 1999).
